Jane Webre and Cindy Saiter have won an appeal in the Supreme Court of the United States in a case involving legal malpractice claims arising out of an underlying patent matter. The legal issue in the appeal was whether those claims should be litigated in state court or federal court.  The Supreme Court of Texas had held that the claims were within exclusive federal court jurisdiction, and Jane Webre and Cindy Saiter represented the Petitioners asking the SCOTUS to reverse that decision and allow the claims to go forward in state court.  Jane Webre argued the case before the Court, and just five weeks after arguments the SCOTUS reversed the Supreme Court of Texas and held that the claims should be litigated in state court. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the opinion for a unanimous Court.  A copy of the full opinion can be found here.
