Through the Texas Supreme Court Pro Bono Program, John Hicks and Olga Kobzar Successfully Defeat Petition for Review on Behalf of Royalty Owner
SD&M attorneys John Hicks and Olga Kobzar successfully represented a royalty owner in an appeal involving competing claims to a mineral estate based on adverse possession, statute of frauds, and estoppel by deed. Their client had represented himself pro se in the lower courts but after the opposing party filed a petition for review to the Supreme Court of Texas, Hicks and Kobzar agreed to represent the client through the Texas Supreme Court Pro Bono Program. Following full briefing on the merits, the Court denied the petition for review, preserving the client’s favorable judgment.
