Texas Supreme Court Appoints Kennon Wooten to Commission to Expand Civil Legal Services
The Texas Supreme Court recently appointed Kennon Wooten to serve on an newly created 18-member Commission to Expand Civil Legal Services. Former Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson will lead the Commission. The mission of the Commission is to gather information on initiatives and proposals to expand the availability of civil legal services to low- and middle-income Texans, to evaluate that information, and to recommend to the Court ways to accomplish that expansion. The Commission is scheduled to submit its first report to the Court by November 1, 2016. The Order creating the Commission and appointing its inaugural members can be found here.
