SDM Partner Davin McGinnis will present on "New Challenges to Flaring and Venting of Gas in Upstream Operations" at the 2024 Advanced Landman’s Institute in Houston, Texas.  Along with colleague Jennifer Knowlton of ConocoPhillips, the presentation will cover

• Federal Regulatory flaring issues including NSPS Quad Ob and the BLM Waste Rule,
• State specific regulations (NM and TX)
• State specific flaring statistics, including commonly observed reasons for flaring in different basins, differing priorities among operators in managing flaring and emissions, and the regulators’ evolving views on flaring over time

For the second time and the first time since 2019, the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) has partnered with The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation) to together offer a course focused on advanced and more in-depth presentations on issues critical to the work of landmen for the modern development of energy and minerals. This course recognizes that the most successful landmen master more than land title and basic land contracts—they must have a good working knowledge of complex legal and contractual provisions and regulatory issues affecting development and keep abreast of market trends and current deal structures.
